Leroy's famous acerbity toward his neighbors was fueled by events such as this, as we witness a gentleman pointing proudly to his framed diplomas and certificates. Loretta, ever alert, grabs the opportunity to belittle Leroy, ostensibly for the benefit of the gentleman's wife, who tries to hide her discomfort.

Again they all are with their all-black ensembles, highlighted by hints of color. Post-funeral perhaps? These two made the unfortunate, and singular, mistake of inviting the Lockhorns back to their house for a drink. Always a one-time deal.
Wings: The neighbors may vow "never again" at first, but they never learn.
I know this is not the point she was trying to make, but I think Loretta skipped a few too many gym classes herself.
