Loretta thinks she's being clever. She thinks she can gaslight Leroy into insanity by leading him intentionally to suspect an attempt on his life by poisoning. Leroy's glance at the fourth wall says it all.

Maybe he isn't so much looking at the third wall as he is eyeing the shotgun hanging on the wall.
Wings: Chekhov would not object, since the gun is unseen.
